QUOTE - "Our pet foods are formulated with free-range & sustainably sourced meats, GMO-free fruits & vegetables, giving your dogs and cats optimal nutrition."
Unlike the USA and its CAFO (Factory) Farms, New Zealand takes a different approach to raising animals - New Zealand does not use large-scale, American-style CAFOs (Confined Animal Feeding Operations). The country primarily relies on Pasture-based, Grass-fed Farming, with Cows, Beef Cattle and Sheep roaming on pasture. The Chicken and Turkey are also raised on Pasture, so will be WAY healthier than the US' cruelly and intensively-reared animals. As a Brit, where almost all the meat and fish I ate was wild, wild-caught or 100% Grass-raised, this food is Da Bizness 🥰
Chicken, Duck, Turkey, Chicken Liver are the first four ingredients; all from free-ranging birds, who have spent their time running around, enjoying sunshine, and snapping up bugs and herbage.
The HIGH Protein at 45% tells me that a VERY high percentage of the starting ingredients is from ANIMALS rather than PLANTS, together with the fact that LIVER makes up around 5% of the ingredients, so any ingredients coming after liver will be in fairly small quantities. These include:
Chicken Meal, Peas, Fish Meal, Fava Beans, Pea Protein, Flaxseed, Green-lipped Mussel, Manuka Honey, Kiwifruit, Tapioca, Chicken Fat, Brewers Dried Yeast, Natural Flavor, Natural Buffered Vinegar.
So yes. there is SOME Chicken Meal, Peas, Fish Meal, Fava Beans and Pea protein, but my guess is around 93-95% of the protein is ANIMAL sourced and at least the (rendered) Chicken Meal is from pastured birds, as is the Chicken Fat, and the Fish Meal from Wild-caught, not "farmed" Fish!
Fibre-providers include FLAX SEED, PEAS, FAVA BEANS, KIWI-FRUIT,
Powerful Anti-Inflammatory "Nutriceuticals" are provided in SIGNIFICANT quantities (NO Greenwashing") by Green-lipped Mussel, Manuka Honey, Kiwifruit, and Buffered Vinegar (see in "Images" below..
On the amount to feed, the average cat would require about 1/2 a cup daily (65 g), assuming NO other food is fed. I also feed home-made cooked, Canned sardines in water. Canned human grade, and our own Duck Eggs as I would never feed ANY one food exclusively.
CONCLUSION? FIVE STAR ***** and HIGHLY Recommended!
